Technology Cons for Teachers
Even though the good things outweigh the bad things there are still concerns. Some people would argue that technology is taking most of the thinking process out of things. A lot of the people who grew up in the pre-computer age believe that teachers need to take the students feelings into consideration. There has been some research on technology by the Pew Research Center. It found that 70% of teachers said technology has a negative effect on student's writing. They say this is because of the use of shortcuts.
Teachers might find it hard to pull students attention away from their computers. Also, a lot of teachers are not willing to put in enough time teaching how to use technology skills properly. Plus, technology is costly, and laptops usually need to be replaced every two to three years. The more technology that is used, the more people will be needed to keep it running. For teachers, it might be hard to find good material online. Teachers then will have to spend a lot more time planning their lessons and might end up throwing in the towel. |
